Santa Fe

Today we rode the train up to Santa Fe.  It was one of the things on our summer fun list, so we were able to check it off.  The ride up was kind crowded.  Not all of us got a seat.  Patrick & Savannah enjoyed looking out the doors of the train at the view.

Once there, we enjoyed the Farmers Market.  We tasted yummy breads, honey, apple cider slushies' etc. We enjoyed the non food vendors too.  We bought a lavender & honey lotion bar, and feathers for the kids.  It was a really nice market.

Next it was off to lunch at the Blue Corn CafĂ©.  It was really yummy.

After that, we walked around a bit to explore before catching the train home.

I was pretty appalled that they've etched out the word SAVAGE on this monument that was built hundreds of years ago. I mean it is part of history.  Funny, right around the corner was this quote.

THOSE WHO DO NOT REMEMBER THE PAST
ARE CONDEMNED TO REPEAT IT.  - George Santayana

Happy 12th birthday to Trevor!!

Today is Trevor's 12th birthday.  Can't believe how fast time has gone.
We spent the day hanging out, swimming, and relaxing  until late in the afternoon.

We had some photo props on the table for everyone to enjoy.  It was fun taking silly pictures.

Then we had a late lunch/early dinner a 6 foot long sub sandwich (it was a surprise for Trevor).
After dinner, we all headed out to the movies to see The Lone Ranger.  Five kids and four adults, we took up almost a whole row.  The movie was great!  We thought it was very entertaining!

After the movie it was time to head home for pie & presents.  Trevor had requested that I make him a pie this year instead of cake.  We decided on a black bottom (oreo crust) banana cream pie.
He opened all of his presents, then we enjoyed the pie.

The party still continued after that....We headed outside for some birthday fireworks that uncle Mike had bought.  The kids all had a blast!

It was a good day, and I think Trevor really enjoyed it all.  Happy birthday Trev!!

Happy 4th of July

We started the day out with the annual driveway painting. This year Patrick came with a cool version of the Iwo Jema monument.  My sister & her family were here for   the weekend, so they helped out too.  It turned out great.

The kids had a big water fight, while my sister & I kept an eye on the tie-dyed shirts.

We made some yummy treats.  Blueberry hand pies, and patriotic rice crispy treats.

After a yummy dinner of brisket, potato salad & watermelon we went outside to do a few fireworks that Uncle Mike had bought before heading out to a fireworks show.

We had a really fun day!!
