Halloween dinner & pumpkins

We had our family halloween dinner the other night. I made spaghetti sauce,  Trevor made black pasta to make it look creepy.  We added olives with cheese stuffed inside to look like eyeballs.  Patrick made skeleton bone breadsticks.  Patrick also made two different brain jello molds. We also had some swamp juice to drink. For dessert the kids made cute gravestone cupcakes, and Savannah picked out some cute Carmel apples from a local store. After dinner we carved pumpkins. 
Trevor & Griffin had a great idea, but it sorta failed. Luckily they saved it and came up with another idea. Savannah wanted a Medusa pumpkin. It was a bit more work than anticipated,  but turned out great. Patrick was a great looking pirate. It was a fun night with the family.

Balloon Fiesta

It had been several years since we had gone to the balloon Fiesta, so I decided to take the kids during fall break. Waking up super early us never easy, but it's always worth it! We went on a special shapes morning.  Lots of beautiful balloons!

A day in the life as a parent

There are days that things happen that make us shake our heads! Today was one of them.

Life...

I Ihaven't felt like blogging. We're up to the usual stuff work, school ect.
A quick update.
Savannah-  Is now in band she is playing the clarinet. She's back in ballet. She is also doing soccer once a week just Saturdays. So far she's enjoying all her activities.
Griffin- His only official activity is piano with his friend Josh once week. He likes to get together with his friend & work on school projects after school, and sometimes he gets together and goes running with friends to get in shape, he wants like to start track in the spring. A few weeks ago he got together with a friend and they spent the Saturday weeding  neighborhood homes they made close to 50 bucks!
Trevor - Is navigating high school , and more importantly the social life that comes with that. His only official activity is scouts once a week. He's still into coins and paper money collecting. He enjoys attending all the football games at the high school. After a lot of back and forth we decided to let him attend the homecoming  dance this past weekend. Recently we did Savannah's school fall carnival.  We hiked up in the mountains.  Made an ecosystem.  Nothing super exciting,  but busy nonetheless.

Birthday

Another birthday came and went again.  This year I had to work on my birthday, and the kids all had school.
In the morning, I got a text from a friend to check my front porch for a surprise. What a surprise it was! A cake, and presents! After work, another friend dropped off treats and balloons(forgot to take a pic), then we went out to dinner as a family to California Pizza Kitchen.  It was really good.  We came home, had some cake, then went for a walk together.  As I went upstairs to bed I was surprised to find flowers next to my bed. Such a nice birthday.
