Griffin went shopping with Daddy to spent some birthday money.
We had pizza & koolaid for for dinner (Griffin's request).
Happy 5th birthday buddy we love ya!

Birthday Boy Griffin

It's Griffin's 5th birthday today! He is so excited, we are having a family party this year, he choose a Superman theme. Griffin found a really cool birthday surprise by our front door this morning. Our friends the Dixon family left him this really cool gift basket. It was filled with lots of cool stuff. What caught Griffin's eye quickly was all the yummy homemade treats. Thanks guys! More birthday pictures later today.

OUCH

Poor Trevor. Tonight after we finished working in the backyard the
kids wanted me to spray them with the hose. They were having a
really great time running under the water. Until Trevor and Griffin
ran smack dab into each other. The force of Griffin's head knocked
out one of Trevor's loose teeth. It also gave him a really fat lip.
Well, it was fun while it lasted. Good thing the tooth fairy will pay
a visit tonight. That thought made Trevor feel better. (Griffin was
unharmed in this incident).

Carrier

So my new favorite show is Carrier on PBS. It's not really a show it's a documentary about life aboard the Aircraft Carrier Nimitz. I love watching this show for a lot of reasons mostly because it brings me right back to where we were when Patrick was stationed on the Aircraft Carrier
USS John C. Steinns. The Nimitz moved to San Diego while we were still stationed there. We even had a friend who was stationed on the Nimitz. I think it's a great documentary that gives you an inside look at what life on the ship is really like, and what life back home is like while loved ones are deployed for six months or more. As most of you know Patrick was in the Navy and he did two six month deployments. The first before we had any kids and the next one he left when Trevor was four months old. It is a hard life with a lot of sacrifices involved. Watching this documentary reminds me of what a lot of people in this country take for granted. For those of you who have served our country, well done and thank you! It's not an easy life that's for sure but I hope you will know how much you are appreciated for your time, effort, and sacrifice. We've been there and done that. We know what it's like. Sometimes I miss that life in the Navy and I know that Patrick does too. It's like a big family everyone helping everyone else out. Sharing a bond that most civilian's don't understand. Anyways, check out Carrier on your local PBS station it's really great.

Toothless wonder

Well maybe not quite toothless. Trevor lost yet another tooth tonight.
This time with the help of Dad and some trusty tweezers. When Trevor
went to the dentist at the begining of June he had 4 teeth that had
no roots left. The dentist said they needed to come out. We've been
trying to get him to wiggle them, but to no avail. Finally tonight he
said one started bleeding when he was brushing them. Patrick ceased
the opprounity to take it by force. It came right out no tears or anything.
In the picture he is rinsing with mouth wash. 1 down 3 to go.

I'm addicted

To coupon shopping that is. I'm on a roll & I can't stop. I've have been doing some serious coupon shopping lately. It's pretty exciting to get a bottle of Pert shampoo for .33 cents or Herbal Essence for free! I've been shopping store adds with coupons I've collected. I want to go out shopping everyday! Most of the time I save like $ 50.00 bucks or 50% of my bill. Just thought I would share my excitement. It's funny what I think is cool now that I'm older.
P.S. if you use the reusable bags most stores will give you a .05 cent bag refund per bag you bring in. Ask about it pretty cool if you ask me.

Camping at Holy Ghost

We got home last night from a three day two night camping trip with the Salinas Family. We went to Pecos It was beautiful up there. We had a really good time despite a bit of rain. The kids enjoyed playing in the creek right at our campsite. It was very relaxing and we can't wait to go again.

Camping Pictures

Trevor chillin out with Josh & Danica
Even the rain didn't dampen our spirits. On go the ponchos for more fun!

Our Garden (of sorts)

At the end of the season last year we threw all our sunflower
stems into our raised vegetable garden thinking they would
decompose and make the soil richer. Well, they did, but the
sunflowers also came back. Everything else that we planted
died and the sunflowers took over our veggie garden. They
are really beautiful & I love sunflowers I just wish we had
some veggies too.

Swimming

Lava Hot Springs has a great swimming pool.
The kids love it. The have kiddie slides, as well
as big water park like slides. The kids had a
great time at the pool. It wore Griffin &
Savannah out. They both fell asleep during
dinner after we go back. Since the younger ones
were asleep I took Trevor back so he could enjoy
the big water slides.

The diving platforms & water slides

Craters of the Moon

After we finished up at Bear World we drove to Craters of the Moon.
It was really beautiful. The kids love anything that has to do with
volcanoes so, they enjoyed it here.

Savannah walking with Uncle Bryan. She was pretty much attached
to him when he was around.
Trevor & Griffin cooling off in a deep cave. It was 104 while we were
walking around so, this nice cool cave was a great relief.

Bear World

One day the Uncle Bryan & I took the kids to Yellowstone Bear World
just outside of Rexburg. It is a drive-through wildlife park. We saw Elk,
Bison, Wolfs, Grizzly Bears, Black Bears, a moose and deer.

I did not get very many good pictures of the bears. You had to keep your windows rolled up & of course mine were dirty. They just walked around the cars. It was really cool and a little scary! A wolf walking by...

After the drive- through area there was a little amusement park area
and a petting zoo. Here is Savannah saying hello to a deer.
Trevor on one of the rides.
Savannah on a car ride.

Some baby bear cubs. They were so cute!
It was a fun place and the kids enjoyed it. I swear Griffin was there too,
but every time I asked him if he wanted a picture he said "no", so there
are no pictures of him.
