Funny kid

Tonight at bed time, I was telling Griffin about the song I sang to him when he was a baby. It went something like "lullabye and goodnight, go to sleeeep Griffin ect."

Then, I look over at Trevor and said "I sang the same song to you too, but used your name of course."
He then said, "No Mom, you sang "Rock-a-bye sexy boy"!
It totally made me laugh out loud.

Activity day

Today was the first activity day of the school year. They do such great, fun stuff with the girls.  They made bookmarks, decided on goals for the school year and made "back to school survival kits".
So fun!

Birthday surprise

My friend Tracey had asked me if I was able to hang out on Saturday to celebrate my birthday. I thought that would be fun.  On Wednesday afternoon, I got sick. Thursday at work was hard. I felt terrible. By the time the end of the day rolled around, I had already decided that I was not going to make it to work Friday. After I left work, Tracey texted me and asked if I'd be able to get together on Saturday around noon doing something that involved reservations. I texted back saying I'd let her know since I was feeling so sick.
Friday I slept pretty much all day. I really felt yucky, but didn't want to cancel. I said as long as we weren't running a marathon, or going sky diving I'd probably be ok.

Saturday morning I took a long steamy shower, and got all drugged up. Tracey and Katie (we've all been friends for years) picked me up.

Up first was lunch at a yummy Mexican restaurant.

The next surprise was a place called Design by wine. Basically a painting class where they take you step by step until you've finished your masterpiece.
It was lots if fun! Tracey & Katie enjoyed wine while I just had water. Maybe that how they relax most people, because I was a little hung up on trying to make mine look like our instructors, and couldn't and they were just going with the flow.

It's crazy to see how differently each of our paintings look.  We obviously are vey different people.

Tracey even surprised me with a delicious birthday cake!  It was Chocolate truffle, and tasted out of this world.  Everyone in the class sang Happy birthday to me. Funny since I only knew two people there. Then we shared cake with everyone there as well.  It was fun!

It was such a fun surprise.  We don't all get together very much these day since were all busy with work and kids, so it was extra special.

As we were almost back home I started feeling bad again.  I'm so glad I was able to last for the couple of hours we were together.  It was a really memorable day!

The rest of Saturday and all of Sunday were spent mostly in bed.  I'm slightly better, but not feeling 100% yet.  I did survive school today, and 5th graders at that, so I must be on the mend!

Elementary school

Today little miss Savannah started 4th grade.  She is our last one left in elementary school.

Patrick walked her to school this morning (kind of a necessary tradition because the school is so over crowded, and parking is a nightmare).  She said her day went really well, and her good friend in in her class, and sits right next to her.   She said her teacher is really funny too.

38

Today is my 38th birthday!

Getting a little closer to 40 everyday.
Actually, getting close to 40 doesn't bother me.  Birthday's aren't a big deal to me.  I do have fun celebrating with my family though.

The day started with Patrick making yummy belgum waffles & bacon for breakfast. He's really very sweet to me. I thought I took a picture, but I guess not.

Next up I opened cards & gifts.
Savannah made this cute ornament for me. I love it! I knew she had been secretly working on a project the last few days.

The card from Patrick & the kids was hilarious. Described my life as a mom perfectly. I was super surprised when I saw this post it note.

I really wanted to see it again, and take Savannah.  I was not expecting this gift.  I can't wait to take my girl with me to see Wicked. I know she will love it as much as we do.

Most of the day was spent relaxing.  I decided to skip Church.  Patrick & I meal planned for the week, and we also washed our bedding.

For dinner, I was sad to find that my traditional Greek dinner wouldn't happen.  The place we love is closed Sunday's.  Instead I decided on Claim Jumper.  Something for everyone.  It was delish!

After dinner we ran to the store for just a couple of things.  After that, we went on a walk per my request. It was a beautiful evening.

Once we were home it was cake time!  Patrick made the cake, and the kiddos helped decorate it. He's got more skill than I do when it comes to cakes.

We finished the night with some games.  Uno and Jenga.

It was a great day with my family.  Here's to the next year in my life being just as good as all the rest.

Middle school guys

The boys started school today.   Back in the same school, even if it's just for this year.

It went great, and everyone was happy this afternoon.  They had lots to tell me about.

Griffin even got a job in the cafeteria.  He works in there everyday and earn a free lunch (which he's never bought school lunch before since he thought they were gross.  He says middle school lunches are way better).  His electives are Gifted & Robotics

Trevor is an old pro by now.  His electives are Art & Computers this year.

Griffin 6th grade.
Love my wild man!  He's growing his hair out again.

Trevor 8th grade.
Love this ultra cool guy who actually smiled a little for me!

Here's to a great year!

Love story- part 1

I found this blog post in my drafts from two years ago, and realized I never published it. So, here it goes.

Patrick and I met and started dating 17 years ago.
So much has happened in these years I thought I'd start to type out the story of how we came to be.

It was  late July,  1997

I was a young 20 year old (weeks away from 21).  I was working as a photographer at Olan Mills in Saugus, California.  I worked a lot. Six days a week to be exact.  One afternoon, on my day off, I went over to my friend Chrisite's house.  We hung out and chatted.  I vividly remember trimming her hair while I was there that afternoon (bad idea).  While I was there, her good friend Patrick called and said he and some other guys were going to come over.   He actually asked to talk to me (even though we didn't know each other). He told me I should stay until they got there, and watch their sky diving video (Christie and some of her friends including Patrick had just recently gone sky diving together).  I thought that sounded cool, so I said sure.  Well, we waited and waited and they didn't come.  Finally I decided to leave (I actually had a date to go on that night).  Christie walked outside with me and we said our goodbyes.  I  started walking to my car.  As I did a car full of guys pulled up.  Patrick came right over to me and started talking.  I remember him being really flirty.  Then comes the moment that changed both of our lives forever.

He says "Nice car!" ( I drove a Mazda rx7 at the time)  I say to him  "Wanna go for a ride?"

And he said "YES!"

We drove out to the desert. I showed him how fast my little car could go. Let's just say It was way over the speed limit. We also talked the entire time like we had known each other forever.

The only picture I have of that car of mine. It was a little two seater with a sweet red interior.  Patrick later started calling it the Jet Lion.

To be continued...
