My ailments

Yesterday when I woke up my left foot was numb.  Patrick thought I should try soaking my feet in warm water with epsom salt to see if it would help.  I did that, and nothing changed. I took a picture of my foot marked in pen where it was numb.  I was sure that it would go away, and I wanted to remember where it was numb and when for an upcoming Dr. appt.

After a few hours, I decided to go get a pedicure to see if that might help ( and I was is desprate need of one anyways).  It didn't make any difference.  While getting the pedicure, I called my Dr. office to see if I should come in.  The nurse said she thought I should go to urgent care.  I decided to go and have my foot looked at. While I was waiting my foot started turning a reddish purple, and looked like it was swelling.  It was weird!

When I finally saw the Doctor, he could tell my foot was red and slightly swollen.  He checked the pulse in both my feet.  He said the left foot's pulse was not very good, and decided to transfer me to the ER, so they could do more tests. I was taken back right away because they were worried it could be a blood clot.  I had an ultra sound done of my leg and foot to see if there was a blood clot.  Luckily, there was not.  Bad news is they were not sure what was causing the numbness.  The Doctor asked if I had and back pain recently, and I answered yes.  The night before I was putting bookshelves together for the boys bedroom, nad my back started hurting pretty bad.  I laid on a heating pad for awhile, then decided to get back to work.  As soon as I stood up I fell to  my knees with a sharp pain in my back.  I didn't think the two were related, but the Doctor thought they could be.  She said she thinks I pinched a nerve, my sciatic nerve to be exact.  I was given pain pills, and a muscle relaxer and finally sent home.

Today my foot is still numb, but it is not red or swollen.  My mind always goes back to possible MS.  A year or two ago, I had a strange thing happen with my arm, it felt like dead weight.  I was told it could possibly be MS.  After a brain MRI I was given the all clear.  The thing is my right big toe is almost always numb.  Today besides my foot being numb, my fingertips on my left hand are numb too.  I have a DR. appt. next week , so I'll have to see what she thinks.  I think since turning 34 I've had so my different health issues.  I've been thinking a lot about all my ailments, tests, and surgery's that I've had the last 2 1/2 years.  It's pretty crazy!

Endometrial ablation
High Blood pressure
Chronic exertional compartment syndrome
Brain MRI
Root canal
Endoscopy
GERD
Hiatal hernia
Bladder sling surgery
Cronic cough
Pulmonary function test
Reactive airway disease
Many blood tests

I hit 34 and it all went downhill.  Obviously I really need to get healthier.  I can't imagine how many ailments I could have in 20 years.

Savannah's recital and more

Tonight Savannah had her Ballet recital.  She did a wonderful job, and looked beautiful!  All the classes were different springtime activities.  Her class was rain.  I'll try to post a video tomorrow.

The boys bedroom floors are now finished, woo-hoo!!!  Even though we have not gotten their furniture ready to go in, they moved their mattresses back in tonight.  The room is looking really good. We still need to get new baseboards for the whole house too.  Can't wait to have it all finished.  Savannah's is next in line, hopefully by Monday she'll be back in her room.

Griffin & Savannah recently tried fresh  coconut milk, thanks to Grandpa Pat for bringing it back from Costa Rica.

Trevor had enough money left after his trip to buy a new tablet.  His other one shattered the day before he left on his trip.  He's happy.  I'm sure he'll be back to playing lots of Mindcraft.

Trevor's Costa Rica trip

Trevor had a fantastic trip to Costa Rica!!  He really didn't remember anything from his first trip six years ago, so it was all new and exciting.  Besides Grandpa Pat, his Great aunt Roxanne came along too.  As soon as they came off the plane he started telling us all about his amazing trip.  Some of the highlights were:

Ferry Boat ride
The beach
Zip line tour in Montezuma
Caving at Barra Honda National park
Wild animals

The only downsides were:

Getting sick.  He ate the local honey (he said it was so delicous) and threw up.  He tried it again later that day, and threw up some more.  Too bad since he really liked it.
Bad sunburn on shoulders (because he wouldn't put sunscreen on).

It was such a great trip for him.  We are grateful for Grandpa Pat for taking him with him.  He had a blast and became much more independent.  I did miss him a lot, but I survived too  :)
When he got home he handed out gifts he had bought for all of us.  He's so sweet.  Glad he had this opprotunity!  When Grandpa was getting ready to leave, Trevor said "I wish he wasn't leaving, because he's really nice and fun!"

Life as we know it...

I'm so happy!!  I had our old family movies converted to DVD.  I just picked them up yesterday.  We've already watched a few.  It's so fun to see the kids when they were babies/toddlers.
It's seriously the best thing I've spent money on in a long time.

Trevor left for his big trip to Costa Rica with Grandpa Pat this morning.  I know he'll have a blast.  This is actually his first time away from us for more than one night.  I'm going to miss him lots.  Can't wait to hear all about the fun things they are doing.

In other news,  I think I've finally found a way to help Savannah's skin from being so dry.  I've decided to wait two days in between bath days.  I've also been using this soothing gentle body wash and cream on her.  Already she does dot seem as dry as she has been.  Only having a bath every 3rd day it not a problem either.  She's not a very stinky kid.  Hope it continues to help.

SICK

So I've been sick for over a week.  It started out as a cold, then my cough just seemed to  get worse each day.  For the last two nights I have not slept at all, seriously!!  I've done lots of tv watching, and wasting the nights on the internet.  I've tried EVERY cough meds know to man.  I've been trying to sleep upright in a chair.  I've been using a humidifier. I've rubed vicks on my feet before bed.  I just can't stop coughing, so I just can't sleep.  I am exhausted.  This afternoon I started feeling like I did this summer when I had bronchitis and ended up in the ER for breathing treatments. Patrick took me to urgent care.  I was worried this might happen again.  The Doctor said her heard some wheezing, but said it was not  bronchitis.  He said it sounds like I have Reactive Airways Dysfunction Syndrome.  So for some reason when I get a cold or inhale some sort  of pollutant I  end up having breathing problems.  He gave me a new inhaler ( I used one this summer).  He also put me on a steroid, and told me to take a good allergy med.  Here's to hoping I can finally start feeling better, and finally get some zzzzz's.

Easter weekend

I'm sick right now  I have been for over a week. Wednesday night I actually took the kids to Krispie Kream for dinner!  I was feeling crappy, and craving something sweet.  I'm either a horrible mom, or an awesome mom depending on your perspective.  On Friday even though I was feeling really bad I took the kids out and about so they could have a fun day. We went to the botanical gardens. It was a really beautiful day. After that I took all three to get haircuts. Savannah got her's styled too. Later on we all went to the park to fly kites.
After dinner the kids and I made Easter scooch-a-roo cups.  They are yummy.
Saturday night we went o see the movie the Croods.  We all loved it!

Sunday the kids woke up to Easter baskets!!  They each got a new swimsuit, and candy.
We went to Church, even though I fely really bad.  I figured I can't skip Church on Easter. After church the kids put on their swimsuits and jumped on the trampoline while I sprayed them.  It was a beautiful day. Patrick helped me make a yummy Easter dinner.  After dinner we did a glow in the dark egg hunt.  The eggs were filled with glow bracelts, and money.  It was a fun weekend, but way too exhausting!

We hope you had a great Easter weekend too!
