Movie filming

Today at the middle school directly in front of my school, they were filming a movie called "A Good Kill."  I know now that Ethan Hawk is in it.  Traffic going to work was crazy because the camera crew was working right out front near the road.

At the 5th grade recesses the kids were beyond excited.  Their is a soccer complex in between the Middle school, and our school.  While we were out their that's where they were filming.
There were a bunch of kids in orange penny's walking together in a group, and a few couples (extra's) here and there.  The production assistant came over to talk with the kids and answer all their questions.  It was very exciting for the kids.  He told them when he yelled "Action" they would all have to scoot, so they wouldn't be in the shot.

Kinda fun. Not our usual day at school.

Seriously, the perfect weekend

FRIDAY

On Friday night after the kids were asleep I got all caught up on my favorite show.

I love the show.  I love that they cover so many different topics.  I want my family to be like this one once they are all grown.

SATURDAY

Saturday was Griffin's first soccer game of the season.  It was a relegation game.  That meant that if they won, they'd move up in the bracket, and take the schedule of the team we beat.  It was Cold, Rainy, Windy, and miserable!!  Trev & Sav sat in the car.  The team did great, and won!!  It was 3-0 we are happy to be 8th now out of 20 teams in our age group.

Saturday late afternoon we went to Costco sans kids.  We loaded up!
We brought dinner home from Perico's Mexican restaurant.

*One of the best things about this weekend was that we got so much done, but we totally relaxed too.

We bought the movie Frozen on Amazon, and watched it as a family.  Savannah was in hog heaven.  The boys seemed to enjoy it much more this time too.

After the kids went to bed, Patrick & I watched The Breakfast Club.  It's been so long since I've seen it.  A classic for sure.

SUNDAY

I got the crockpots going (one lid broke).  And, I also started prepping some freezer meals.  The kids were busy with their electronics, so Patrick turned on a documentary about JK Rowlings.  After I was done in the kitchen I joined him on the couch.  We enjoyed it.  From the start of the day we had been washing ALL of the bedding in the house.  Trevor had given Cody a bath, Savannah had cleaned her fish tank, and I had cleaned the bird cage.

Later in the day, Patrick and I made one more run to the store.  We needed a few more things.
When we got home late afternoon, he put on the movie A River Runs Through It.  Another good one.  It had been awhile since I had seen it, so I got reeled in quickly.

After the movie was over, Patrick re-hung the boys curtains in their room.  They had pulled them out.

After that we had dinner.  After dinner it was time for game night & dessert.
I made a favorite easy chocolate chip cookie bars.  The game was Hedbanz.

Patrick's card was hilarious!  I had to tell Savannah ( in nice, simple terms) what it was.  He had such a hard time guessing.  Once it asked if you could buy souvenirs when you visit this place.  Finally after like six rounds, he guessed Ballet studio, and I said "more like Dirty Dan's" then he guessed correctly, finally.

In all I prepped quite a few freezer meals.  Hopefully, this will help us stay on track with our food budget, and curb us eating out as much.

It really was a nice, relaxing, busy, great weekend!  Maybe it was extra nice because I skipped Church.  Sometimes it's nice to just not go.

Our weekend

Trevor finished up two big projects.  One for Science where he had to create a Dinosaur that has never been found before.  He did one that is rock like, and eats small incest, bugs, and small plants.  The other project was for History.  He had to create a journal of someone who traveled on the Santa Fe trail in the 1800's.  Both projects turned out good.  Getting a picture of him is another story. He fights me so bad when I try to take his picture.  I think he knows it drives me crazy.

Savannah was asked to play in a friendly soccer tournament on Saturday.  It was fun for her, especially since she has not played Soccer for over a year.  She played four games and did pretty good despite getting a little tired.  She also got to see some friends she doesn't see very often. We tried a new pizza place when all the games were over.

Saturday night a friend from work invited me over to play Pokeno.  It was lots of fun!  I had never played before.  It's similar to bingo, but they call from a deck of cards.  I actually won two different prizes.  One was a picture frame, candles, and air fresheners.  The other prize was wind chimes, and a little gnome.  For the last round they play for a cash prize, and I won that too!!  It was only 9.00 but I was happy with my win. Fun night with friends, and food.

Today not much went on.  We relaxed in the morning, then in the afternoon it was church.  This guy went for a walk with me after church.  After dinner we all watched a movie together.

That's  a wrap on our weekend!

Celebrating the love

On Saturday we celebrated Valentines Day (one day late).   I knew I wanted to make the family a nice fancy dinner, so I waited till Saturday until I would have more time to get things ready.

Early on I went shopping for supplies.  I even got roses for 50% off
When I got home the kids helped me get the table decorated for our dinner.  I wanted everything set up early, so we could enjoy the pretty table during the day.

I got to work on our special dessert.  I made chocolate bowls filled with homemade yummy chocolate pudding.

I've been wanting to make these chocolate bowls for a long time.  Glad I finally did, so fun, and so easy too.

For the menu I decided on:

Love juice (cranberry juice)
Chicken cordon bleu
Potatoes au gratin
Roasted asparagus
Cornmeal crescent rolls

We lit the candles, and ate in the dark.  It made for a really nice dinner.

We relaxed for awhile after dinner before it was dessert time.  I sliced the strawberries fancy for the pudding, and then served the dessert bowls up.  They were a hit.  They were really tasty, and special.

It was such a fun evening.  It was nice to do something different than our normal dinner.  I'm so happy that this is my family.  I love Patrick and our kids so much!  I wanted to show them some extra love with this special meal.

An update on life

So, in no particular order here are some pictures of life in the last week or so.

We finally broke out our new popcorn popper.  Thanks, Grandma Linda!

We finally got some snow.  The kids were thrilled! They had one delay, and one whole day off from school.  It really was not bad, kind of silly, but the kids enjoyed their time off.

I skipped work one day to hopefully get rid of some stress.  My friend and I enjoyed lunch at Claim Jumper. It was delish, especially dessert.  So excited that we finally have one here.

Griffin went to his very first school dance.  It was a 5th grade Valentines Day dance.  He had a blast!

Love that Patrick makes huge batches of homemade veggie & chicken broth.  He put them in cups that are easy to defrost. It's so convenient when making dinner.

I lost one of the diamonds from my wedding ring  :(

One night on the way to dinner (at Wing Stop) the local Chinese restaurant  was doing a little Chinese New Year celebration.  It was really fun to watch.

Nobody is feeling very good this weekend.   Lots of laying around playing on electronics.

I'm making a double batch of this yummy monkey bread.  One is for the family, one is for my co-workers ( I've been slightly grouchy at work).
